Utmost Grilled Cheese

This sandwich has been a staple in our house for many years.  It isn't a traditional grilled cheese, which is why I like it!

Utmost Grilled Cheese

1 loaf French bread
2 Tbsp. prepared mustard
1 cup cheddar cheese, grated
1 cup jack cheese, grated
1/4 cup butter
1/2 tsp Worcestershire
1 egg
4-6 slices bacon, crumbled
2 green onions, chopped

Half your bread and spread it with the mustard.  I sometimes find I need a little more than 2 tablespoons.  If you are a mustard fan like myself you might want to try more.  You can do it with yellow mustard or even dijon.  I wouldn't suggest a sweet mustard.
mix the rest of your ingredients until well combined and spread the mixture on the bread.  Make sure your egg is raw!  It will bind the rest of the ingredients together and help them get nice and puffed up!
Place on a baking sheet and broil until lightly browned and puffy.
Cut and serve immediately.

This is such an easy and fun dish for a night when you don't have time to think about cooking!  Plus most of the ingredients are things that keep well so you could just have them in the fridge ready to go!

Hope you enjoy this family favorite as much as we do!

  1. Is the egg hard boiled or you just crack it and mix it in?

  2. Just crack it and mix it in. It helps bind all the other ingredients together! I'll add that to the recipe!
