Baby Name Craze

If you know me well you know that I've been obsessed over names and their meanings since I was in middle school. I still have a circa 1994 baby book that is missing the cover (although that is recent due to it's increased use) and highlighted with all of my favorite names. Personally I like to think of myself as ahead of the times. Back in '94 as a 14 year old I highlighted Colton, McKenzie and Aiden, all in the top 100 right now, 15 years later. Of course that doesn't include some of my more interesting ideas such as Druscilla. Oh yes, that one is definitely on there. And I'm pretty sure for a while I wanted to name a little girl Tapestry. WHAT? Ok...maybe I was a little too forward thinking with that one!

With the baby boom that my friends seem to be producing all on their own I started keeping track of what baby names were popping up. It's interesting to see the trends and fun to see the unique names that my friends are using. I love how their personalities come out in their children's names.
For the little girls over the last couple of years the most popular have been: Madeline (or Maddie), Emma, Abigail, Addison, Clair, Evelyn, Miriam, and Nora. Some of the more unique names for girls have been: Nola (my cute niece), Leilani, Kruzie, Piper, Sage and Rita.
For the little boys the top names have been: Ben/Benjamin, Hunter, Jonah, Noah, Luke and Sam/Samuel. Unique boys names are: Silas, Schaeffer (my sweet nephew), Weston, Jule, Jamin, and Deacon.

As we continue to narrow down a name for Baby E it's fun to look and see the naming trends on websites but also in our circle of friends. And if you want any ideas from 1994 let me know! You can borrow my book. Just don't steal any of the orange highlighted ones!

What are some of the names you hear a lot of? Unique names?
