Learning to Focus

Even though we've had our camera for a few months I still have a LOT to learn about taking pictures, let alone good pictures!!  This week I learned that when trying to focus a picture I can't be too close to the subjects.  Sadly Stafford is out of focus in this closeup.  I haven't figured out how far away I have to be but at least I know to look out for the mistake.

We aren't out of focus below!!

  1. Adorable!! I love the second one! The beautiful sunset in the back is a wonderful back ground. One of the reasons Stafford may be out of focus in the first one is because of the low lighting and your camera may not have focused on him. It is still so precious!!

  2. Awesome girl!!!

Focus was not my friend for a long time. It has gotten better, but I still get frustrated at times. Are you shooting on manual or program? If so, make sure the aperture is large enough.

  4. Laura, just a beautiful shot of you and Stafford. You are just an American beauty and he is adorable.

  5. How sweet, I just want to pinch his cheeks! (Although I wouldn't without permission :-) I also love the second one all around, from the pose to the lighting to, of course, the elusive focus (not my friend either. My husband keeps getting mad at me for ruining great pictures by trying to take them on manual focus.)

  6. Aren't you guys sweet. Thanks so much for stopping by to comment and for the follow. I'm now following back. Focus is the first lesson towards great photography and I often have to remind myself. I'm now following back and look forward to sharing your journey through photography and parenthood.
