Day 6: Faithful Friend

Faithful friends are hard to come by.  I'm not talking about good friends or even great friends.  I'm talking about faithful to the end friends!  Friends that are there for you no matter what.  Friends that aren't afraid to call you out.  Friends that really know you and love you in spite of that.  Friends that you are honest with all the time.  Friends with which you have no pretense.  Friends who push you.  Friends who pull you.  Friends you carry you when you feel like you can't go on.

These are people who you can can talk to once a day, once a month or once a year and somehow your relationship remains the same.  They are the people you laugh with and cry with.  They are the ones you can call at midnight when you've had an awful day.  They pray for you, play with you and bring out the best in you.

The older I get the more I realize that life is passing quickly.  I don't want to say that it is passing me by because that would indicate that I'm just standing by watching and you know me, I don't like to just stand by and watch!  Granted I may not be running alongside life but I'm at least jogging....part way....until I get winded.  As I walk through life it is my desire to be the kind of friend that I want to have.  I want to take the time to think about the kind of friend I am and should be to others.

The Biblical illustration of the lame man with awesome friends has come up twice recently.  This story is about a man who needed healing but because Jesus was so popular he couldn't get close to him.  His friends put him on a stretcher, carried him up on the roof of the house and cut a hole in the roof so they could lower him down to Jesus.  He was healed because of his faith and because of some pretty awesome friends.  These guys took a major risk because they cared about their buddy.

I encourage you to really invest in good friendships.  Regardless of whether you are running or walking, life is short!  Learn to to really love your friends.  In the process you will develop sweet relationships that will last a lifetime.

Thank you to my faithful "stretcher" friends!!  I love you dearly and thank God for you!!

And here is my picture of the day....a different kind of friend but a faithful one!!
