Help Me Choose-The Comforter Edition
Our bedroom is one of my favorite rooms in the house. I wouldn't call it a work in progress because I haven't made any progress on it. I "finished" it a couple of years ago and haven't really done anything to it since. The big move is the perfect opportunity to fine tune aka completely re-do my bedroom.
I know I said I love our room but I don't love it quite enough. I have this vision of what I want my house to look like someday and right now that room just doesn't fit the bill. It might fit a little better if I could learn to put away my clean laundry but that's for another post! Using Vivien Leigh lines as your mantra doesn't really help keep your house clean.
I THINK I want to decorate my house in some combination of shabby chic and something unnamed that I'm not even sure that I can describe. Sometimes I am a minimalist and sometimes I'm not. I love the color blue and I think I'd be happy with a totally white house but then I would get upset when my kids spill OJ on the carpet. So we'll have to nix that idea.
So back to the bedroom. The first thing I'm going to do is get a new comforter. And then I think I'll build the room around that. My furniture now is a mish-mash of Craigslist purchases that I can keep and re-do or sell and get more. I also have a GORGEOUS framed black and white print from our wedding that goes over our bed. It is enormous and it is framed in black so I can't steer too far from my current color scheme which is: blue/grey walls, steel/grey furniture and black/silver/grey accessories. If you are a super smart decorator and have any ideas about how I can incorporate my obsession with black/silver and shabby chic but not too shabby I would love to hear them!!!
So vote for your favorite comforter below!! It's the first purchase I plan to make once we get to the West Coast.....well, other than a Starbucks!
I think I have a favorite but I'm not sure yet. I can't wait to share my eventual pictures of my new comforter in my new bedroom in my new house in my new town in my new state!!!

#4 :-) Very versatile for the lady who likes to "improve" her room every now and then. And some color or black pillows would POP.
ReplyDeleteI like #1, 3, and 4. Though, if you want to do a different color scheme, I don't see why a black and white portrait in a black frame couldn't go perfectly well with colors or something... maybe not browns, but it's a "neutral" and I think would pop if you did your room in a brighter color. Just my opinion. But I'm a color girl... I LOVE bright colors... but I actually also like black and white... I really really like #3, but it's not super versatile... #4 looks super chic and you could add color to it pretty easily i think. Happy shopping!
ReplyDeleteI like #4. Plus you can always add a splash of color....yellow, a shade of orange... If you go with black and white - you could a red lamp with some red/black pillows. Maybe a red carpet....

Good luck with your choice. You'll have to show pics when you're done.
#2 or 4. They are more versatile. I agree The Leeds
ReplyDeleteI vote #2!
ReplyDeleteI would say 4, but that white top with little ones may not be the best idea. In that case, go with 1. It has the most variation of color, thus giving you more to work with. Though, I may have to agree with Ali. I know you love your sleek room, but you may need something to perk you up a bit after a few months there! You could always add red in with these for some pop. According to Charlotte and all the home design she studies...every room should have at least a small touch of red. Her house is gorgeous, so I have have adopted the practice in most rooms. haha! My current room is blue, black, white, with 1 red throw pillow. You would approve! See house photos on FB.
ReplyDeleteLove you! Can't wait to see what you pick!

I like them all!! I'd probably go with #1 or #5, but you really can't go wrong at all!! :)
ReplyDelete#4 is very elegant and #1 is more versatile. Both are winners!!! It's Karen :)
ReplyDeleteHi laura,
ReplyDeleteFor what it's worth, i like #2 and think it would be much easier to decorate around for added touches.
Have fun! They are all beautiful!!!

In order of liking: 4, 3, 1!!!
ReplyDeleteLaura, these are all so pretty - you have great taste, and I hope you don't mind me borrowing some of these ideas when I go shopping for our next comforter:)
ReplyDeleteI think I like the first one best, and it is actually for the pillows. I think the patterns on the pillows are really pretty.
Can't wait to see what you choose when you move!
