Before & After

As I mentioned earlier this week, I finally made an appointment to get my hair cut!  I was able to go today thanks to my sweet friend Lauren who took care of Stafford.

Despite spending an inordinate amount of time getting advice from my girlfriends at our small group last night I still had no idea what I was going to do when I went to see the stylist.  I had decided I didn't want to cut much length but I couldn't decide on color.  I wasn't sure if I wanted to continue to grow out my natural color (seen in picture below) or get highlights again.

After talking things over with the stylist for a long time I did decide to get highlights just along my crown.  Hopefully they will be easy to maintain and a little cheaper as well.  I don't think you can tell a lot in the pictures below but I think it looks very good in person.  I do have to give Peter a hard time though because he might be the most non-observant person on the planet.  Taking his cue from the discussion last night when I walked in I asked him if he liked it.  "Yes," he replied, "it is definitely darker!"  This was AFTER I told him I had highlights!

According to beautystat.com and my stylist the hottest trend for 2011 is something called "color streaming."  Apparently this is where you have mostly natural color on top but then it fades to colored hair on the bottom?

Beatystat says,

"You keep a veil of the natural hair color on the top, as well as underneath. There are bolder streams of color that are only about 2 to 3 levels lighter than the natural color but the streams get lighter and lighter towards the ends."

The stylist says that is pretty close to what I've got.  I'm not sure I see it, but that is ok.

All in all I was very satisfied with my trip to this salon.  The stylist, Sydney was professional, very sweet and totally willing to deal with my unwillingness to commit to a color.  She did an excellent job on the cut and highlights!

I wish I had better pictures to show the difference but I haven't figured out how to use the self-timer on my camera so this will have to do!

  2. I think it looks good - and I like how it's slightly parted on the side rather than in the center (see "before"). :) Miss you. When are you coming to PA again??
