Day 2-Giving Good Gifts
I don't know about you but I am a TJMaxx and Marshalls addict. I seriously have a problem. Sometimes I just get this itch to go there. Ok all the time. I just HAVE to see what they have. There might be something I'm going to miss out on. I come home with sometimes ALMOST every time I go. These things range from picture frames to sugar free granola. Rugs for the sunroom and clothes for the boys. I love the variety and I love the surprise of never knowing what I'll find when I go.
I used to skip this section but now I make a beeline for little boy clothes and toys. I just can't help it. I've found a couple of my favorite toys and clothes there and I just always think I'm going to hit the jackpot. I seriously have to hold myself back. "Little Guy would love this. He would look so cute in this." Sometimes I even rationalize getting him things because they are educational. But how many ABC puzzles do we need?
I want to give good gifts to my children. I want them to be happy and satisfied. I love the look on their face when they are enjoying something. I love it so much I almost bought a second potty seat that had Diego on it.
Matthew 7:11 says this...
If you then, though you are evil/sinful, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!
When I think about that it almost makes me giddy. Like a kid on Christmas morning. What does God have in store for me? He wants to lavish himself on us. All we have to do is ask! How wonderful it is to serve a God of love. A God who delights in his creation!
My babies and my shopping addiction continue to teach me more and more about God's love for me!
this is such a beautiful post.
ReplyDeletei'm not a mom yet (i'm due in a couple of weeks) and i couldn't stop buying pretty things to my baby girl! Many people had told me I'd feel this way but I guess you never really know that until it happens to you.
and also i've started some craft projects to decorate my little girl's bedroom. i'd never think about spending my time this way if it wasn't for her, you know.. http://mustbeliberating.blogspot.com.es/2012/10/getting-ready-for-fall-part-two.html

Found you via the Two in Diapers link-up and your blog is just beautiful. So is this post! I know too well the draw of those stores, and love what you said about how God wants to give us only good things. So true and a lovely reminder :)
ReplyDeleteI figure if God gave me the gift of my kids, then he must really love me! (And I can definitely give my kids good gifts, especially if it indicates that God has more greatness in store for us all.)
